Form & Function Having Fun

The concept embodies the essence of modern design through principles being shaped by organic and natural influences, creating a harmonious blend of sleek, modern aesthetics with natural forms and textures.

The ceiling and herringbone vinyl floor featuring light oak faux wood grains create a warm and inviting touch that draws the eye upon entrance. The matching wood color ties seamlessly with the overall built-in carpentry offering a cohesive look, integrated with an open-kitchen layout with beautiful arabescato viola marble-look sintered stone for visual impact. The combination of white backdrop with natural forms and large black-framed glass panels creates a balanced contrast complemented by the overall warm wood and carefully selected furniture, bringing together a stylish modern home with sophisticated vibe.

This project underwent a unique transformation by maximizing space for primary common areas and enhancing storage solutions. The common bathroom was reduced in size to expand the dining area, allowing for a more spacious and functional dining experience comes with a curved wall display storage as background. Two common bedrooms were reconfigured, reducing their size to incorporate a full-length storage unit that doubles up as entrance to the bathrooms. This innovative storage solution provides ample space for organization while maintaining a sleek aesthetic. With the new layout, the dining area sits in between the open-concept kitchen and living area which eventually creating a more open and inviting environment for relaxation and socializing. The long dining table also doubles up as kitchen preparation top when needed. The main bedroom remains comfortably spacious with built-in wardrobe with huge glass door panels, ensuring overall functionality and style throughout the unit. An additional dresser space was also carved out from the passageway and common bedroom. This redesign optimizes space usage based on homeowners’ lifestyle, enhancing both practicality and visual appeal of the home.

Embracing Diversity

In the heart of modern design, we embarked on a captivating interior project that seamlessly wove together the sleek lines of contemporary aesthetics with the cultural richness drawn from our clients personal collection. The design intention is to create a home that is a true reflection of individuality, sophistication and a celebration of diverse cultural influences.

Striking a balance between contemporary chic and cultural elegance, the interior space possesses a harmonious blend of stylish feature and furnishings with the client’s collection of heirlooms and art pieces in a setting with a rare high ceiling and panoramic city view from windows. Walls were tactfully brought down to create an open-concept haven, fostering a sense of connectivity and spaciousness.

The client’s vision for a modern and sociable lifestyle manifested in a fluid transition between the living room and a stunning open kitchen. The kitchen showcases a beautiful island counter that seamlessly transforms into a dining area. The open layout not only enhances the flow of natural light but also fosters an atmosphere of share experiences. Whether preparing a meal, working in the study or unwinding in the living area, the home resonates with a sense of cohesion and unity. The home office presented an opportunity to infuse professional functionality with personal expression. The space is designed in between the living area and primary bedroom, with clear glass panels showcasing an inspiring work environment that reflects the client’s journey and passion but yet with sufficient privacy and security as the entrance door is built in the bedroom that doubles up as a feature wall for both office and bedroom headboard. This stylish interior design venture is a testament to the transformative power of thoughtful space planning and the harmonious blend of contemporary aesthetics with cultural richness, which is deeply meaningful to its inhabitants.

The design objective is to have a minimalist approach with visually light and neutral color theme. Interior spaces are planned based on the idea of form follows function in an open-concept setting in order to make the home look more spacious. A combined living and dining room chiefly opens more avenues for social interaction and provides an area to showcase a mix of beautiful furniture.

Another feature of such mid-century modern concept is to encourage a sense of continuity between indoor and outdoor. The full height windows span across the open living and dining areas are meant to be kept full height and length to let in maximum natural light as well as fresh air to waft inside.

Simplicity is a core feature of most mid-century modern rooms, and this kitchen is no exception. It’s serene white shade and shaker style cabinets with marble grain countertops are balanced by the shades of neutral warm wood grain to match overall scheme.

Blend, not bland

The hallmark of a contemporary house is clean, muted and an uncluttered appearance. This two-storey corner terrace house adapts the concept while featuring distinct design detailing of both simple and geometrical forms found in built-up carpentry at every corner of the house. The interior design also showcases the use of neutral colors and muted shades with sufficient high contrast elements to add visual interests such as light fixtures, black accents on carpentry detail and the carefully curated matching marble dining table and backsplash in the open kitchen.

The ultimate aim of the project is to create more usable space based on homeowners’ requirements without compromising on the natural light and breeze wafting in daily. A key move was opening up the the living, dining as well as the kitchen towards the patio space and the garden beyond, adding internal vistas and a sense of generosity. The structural columns that were exposed as a result of the expansion were then treated efficiently. The one at the living area was hidden with a full height dual storage and display divider by segregating the living and dining area while the one at kitchen was clad with darker laminate tone to create contrast doubles up as an anchor for the island counter and marks the dry kitchen space together with the laminated wood ceiling.

On the upper floor bedrooms, the contemporary concept continues to exhibit throughout. The built-up carpentry draws attention to its finest details with geometrical forms, beautiful marble and reflective metallic laminates combined with elegant fabric in the furnishings, all amp up the stylish opulence in this house. The distinctive mix of these materials certainly stands out from the norm and reflects a sense of affluence in the urban abode.

The main bedroom and bathroom undergo a facelift and further expansion to accommodate homeowners’ lifestyle. The new wardrobe area is greeted with a high curved ceiling fitted with a strip light adding depth, volume and sense of space. To enhance the result, a suspended raised floor was built to segregate the sleeping area and the en suite bathroom equipped with dressing area and a sophisticated bathtub.

Double Bay Residences

Let There Be Lines

Functionality and a contemporary take led the design concept of this modern minimalist condominium unit. The interior design embrace the balance of featured lines derived from carpentry details, fittings and fixtures, furniture and concealed light strips with neutral color and material palette, bringing together a subtle mix of timeless concept.

The key objective of the project is to establish a contemporary vibe and connection between interior spaces in a minimalist manner. The first impression at the entrance showcase series of bespoke elements. The stylish suspended fabric settee comes with glass partition divider designed to replace existing concrete wall encourage natural light in during daytime. The chosen large format concrete-look floor tiles paired with cabinets light wood tone and solid grey color adds to the minimalist approach. The curved island storage cabinet with distinct marble-look top built to increase preparation space, also doubles up as shoes storage as it is facing both the foyer and the kitchen side. In order to build a connection between the open living space to the kitchen, unnecessary concrete walls enclosing the original kitchen space were removed. Now, natural light coming in and out of the kitchen space becomes more apparent with the new open-concept theme.

The primary bedroom storage wardrobe is well-planned, built just outside the en-suite bathroom with a beautiful, curved shower wall and plenty of natural light from windows. To add on functionality, the wardrobe equipped with slidable bifold door features which enable the homeowners to use the internal space fully according to their requirements.

In the act towards sustainability, instead of replacing the flooring in the bedrooms, the original timber floor was sand down and bleached to create a lighter and natural wood color tone that brings the continuity of concept throughout the home, also creating a warm and cozy appeal altogether.

The Ideal Contrast

As the name suggests, the overall concept of this three-storey intermediate terrace house showcase the deliberate play of contrasts combined with sophisticated yet elegant design elements. The idea is derived from the project’s objective which is to prioritize adequate amount of brightness in a stylish interior with homeowners’ preferences on dark accents as the only sources of natural light coming into the first level is from the front, back and skylight.

The interior boasts a contemporary consistency in design details, from distinct wooden strips on a curved feature wall to the sleek black lines and LED concealed light strips on ceiling that offers functionality. Architectural features, oversized plants and also different play of materials like the big format concrete-look wall tiles in the hall and the bold marble grain countertops in the kitchen create dramatic contrasts, richness and distinction to the interiors. The other highlight in the kitchen is the creation of more preparation space with the luxury of natural light from the extension to yard while keeping it enclosed with stylish glass doors. On the upper levels, the wood-look floor tiles are chosen to soften the space as it brings more warmth and coziness to the bedrooms. Filled with a combination of earthy colors and some pop of cool colors over high-end contemporary furnishings, this sophisticated home also underwent an expansion in the master suite to enlarge the wardrobe space and a bathroom with gorgeous marble print for a home-spa. The top most level of the house is fully utilized for home office and gym. With the new norms, the homeowners require more space to work from home and designated areas to hold conference calls and daily meetings. Storage spaces and display niches are designed and proposed based on aesthetics and functionality.

The existing house has very limited natural light coming into the interior space only from the front, back and the skylight above the stairs. Upon entering the house, the living hall is an isolated area separated by a divider cabinet and a few step-ups to the rest of the space. The dining area is also an individual space beside the stairs leading to upper floors and is fitted with a small rectangular table with six chairs due to the space constrain. Moving forward, there is a narrow passageway that leads to the guests’ room and a small kitchen which comes with a metal gate to the outdoor yard that allows the natural light comes in during daytime. The project objective is to allow maximum natural light in and come up with an open concept space planning with the priority of connecting the spaces together to create visual impact.

The proposal to enlarge the living hall and dining space visually is by opening up the space in between and create a connecting feature wall paneling from the entrance all the way to the end. The curved panel with wooden strips is designed to break the monotony and to complement the placement of a contemporary round table fits comfortably for six. The entrance to the kitchen is made wider to allow more space interaction and embraced by an artistic island counter right at the centre. In order to get plenty of natural light in from the back of the house, the kitchen space has been extended out further towards the yard and enclosed with glass door panels. On the upper floor, the creation of more space in master bathroom and walk-in wardrobe is done with some extension of new walls and a dual-side dresser storage with console built within a wall.

The Motion Illusion

The interior design embraces the balance of curvilinear elements and multitude of vertical strip lines detailing not only to create a gentle and comforting vibe but also reflecting a sense of fluidity and continuous illusory motion in the flat.

The first impression of the interior features an interesting wooden-look herringbone floor combined with neutral color accents from the built-in carpentry and furniture, bringing together a subtle mix of timeless concept. The main idea of the concept is to create a flow of materials and furniture through diverse elements and detailing which complement each other in a minimalistic manner and bring the space to life.

The existing space layout and features come with the typical HDB-flat setting. The project objective is to maximize the functionality of space based on the homeowners’ lifestyle and requirements with the priority of connecting the spaces together to create visual impact. The entrance space is carefully planned not to have any perspectives blocked by bulky storage when one enter and designed to conceal the electrical box while having sufficient shoes storage. The elegant suspended curved island storage cabinet also acts as a console to separate the dry kitchen space next to it. The divider wall between living to kitchen was removed to create an open concept kitchen with the island counter doubles up as a dry kitchen area for lighter tasks such as preparing dry ingredients and making dough. Not only does it help to maximise the functionality of the space, this configuration is ideal for the homeowner to host gatherings with friends and family. The wet kitchen layout was designed to have the entire span of bottom kitchen countertop and adequate storage based on both aesthetic and practical qualities. The outcome is clean, minimalist and functional. The home study and work space is fitted with a stylish customized glass door with wooden frame. This eventually brings in more natural light to the corridor from the room window. The requirement in the master bedroom is to design storage for hanging and folding clothes as well as fitting in a comfortable bed without blocking natural light from the room window. The interplay between neutral palette, curvilinear and line elements on cabinetries and furniture brings the continuity of concept throughout, also creating a warm and cosy appeal together.

The Trumps

A contemporary project with a generous space of about 1400 sqft comes with full length windows that offer panoramic views of the city. The spacious rectangular open layout plan in the common area allows cross ventilation and plenty natural light. Natural light increases serotonin, otherwise known as the happy hormone. 😀

This project is clad in earthy tones of travertine marble floor with warm natural, neutral theme. This minimalist approach is peppered with accents such as contrasting dark wood grain finishes and a bespoke either marble look finish dining feature wall for a balance of a sense of character and serenity.

Chuan Drive

The ultimate aim of this semi-detached house is to restructure the layout at the back part of the interior. A bedroom has been converted into an open concept dry kitchen to invite a wholistic view from the front part of the house. This eventually brings in more natural light and breeze into the house in line with clients’ requirements to adapt open-concept ideas.

Contemporary style embraces neutral colors like shades of grays and beiges. Sleek, thoughtful and hidden details highlight a great aesthetic which also offers functionality and simplicity. The interplay between broad expanses of marble flooring, marble-look feature walls, earth palette cabinetries and warm gray furnishing create an elegant and cozy appeal altogether.

Sky Oasis @ Dawson

This contemporary interior design setting featuring luxurious marble-look with sophisticated detailing just keep coming, and span well beyond the open living and dining space. The chosen marble floor creates a striking impression of luxury and elegance from its natural shades, running tone and beautiful veins. The color combination of dark brown walnut, soothing neutral beige & clean white shades brings consistency and creating calming neutrals fuse with chic furniture arrangements to fashion the open living space that are reposeful and on point.

The highlight of this project has to be the space planning which compromise a decent amount of space from a common bedroom for a three metres long wardrobe storage in the master bedroom with a comfortable space to get changed just outside the master bathroom.
